In my final semester at Swinburne University, I was tasked with designing the branding and mobile app experience for a fictional walking tour company based in Melbourne. The project offered full creative freedom in terms of theme and execution.I chose to build a concept around Melbourne’s rich sporting history, designing a digital experience that guided users through key sporting landmarks while telling an engaging narrative through audio, visuals and maps.
The key challenge was to design a mobile app that users could easily use while walking. It needed to be visually engaging, simple to navigate and optimised for on-the-go interaction. I was also responsible for creating a full brand identity for the themed tour, ensuring it was cohesive and aligned with Melbourne’s sporting culture.
The project required managing the full UX process from research and wireframes to a functional interactive prototype. The app needed to make use of mobile features like location awareness and touch gestures, while keeping the interface clean, legible and intuitive in outdoor environments.
